Hope

Hope

Today’s message was written by my friend, Chaplain Bob Griffiths.

I’m blessed to be working with people who are trying to get their lives back together. Yes, some of them have an addiction problem, but most of them do not. They’ve lost jobs or housing, their family has broken up, and some have just gotten out of prison.

After listening to their stories, I pray for them, and they are grateful—and more hopeful. They know that I, and God, are there to call on if needed, and that none of us in this facility looks down on them but treats them as equals. And they get a feeling of that most necessary of human emotions: HOPE! What would any of us do without it? So, my wish for them, as it is for all of us, is beautifully stated by Paul in his Epistle to the Romans, Chapter 15, verse 13: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace through your faith in Him until, by the power of the Holy Spirit, you overflow with hope!”
